FINE ARTS: VISUAL NARRATIVES
From cave painting to comics and anime, visual
storytelling is one of the world’s most enduring
and popular art forms. In this class, students
investigate linear and nonlinear narratives; the
role of time, space, and composition; archetypal
images and characters; and the history of tales.
Integrating contemporary human experience with
character, plot, conflict, and the dramatic arc,
students
invent their own visual mythology. They
create narratives in a variety of media, including
drawing, painting, collage, animation, and video
and audio recordings. Course work is supplemented
by lectures, screenings, and discussions.
