Fashion Design is full for Summer 2006.
We would be happy to speak with students about alternative courses.
Please contact us at summer@newschool.edu or 212.229.8925. Pre-college students who are building a portfolio for college admission are encouraged to enroll in Drawing and Painting.
Explore the American ready-to-wear market and the design process that drives it.
Students develop and master drawing and conceptual skills through class work that
involves model drawing, design sketching, design development, and illustration.
This course emphasizes general design processes and visual skills through drawing from
observation and does not include construction exercises. Classes include seminars in
design history and field trips to fashion exhibitions and design studios. Most classes take place at Parsons Fashion Design Center in midtown Manhattan, the heart of the fashion district.
