This course is for students who have a deep appreciation of art
and design and who wish to pursue careers as managers in a design-driven environment.
Learn about the basic problem solving and management skills involved in design-based
projects. Gain a broad understanding of the relationship between marketplace, the
consumer and the designer, while using the resources of New York as a leading business
capital. Hands-on projects and "real world" experiences that rely on New York's business
and design resources will supplement classes in strategic management and marketing concepts.
The course will offer students the opportunity to increase knowledge and develop skills in the
following areas: management and marketing theory, art and design literacy, critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills. The course is project-based and will culminate in work presented at a school-wide exhibit. Design skills are not necessary as the focus of the course is on future managers.
