Architecture
Session II: June 26-July 21
Session II: Pre-College PNNY 0217 Section A
Through studio exercises and projects, students are exposed to the field of architecture and the fundamentals of the three-dimensional design process. Students are asked to utilize many skills, including active field research, schematic drawings, and model-making to address several types of architectural problems. This introduction to the design process helps students develop the technical skills and concepts that will allow them to approach issues of scale, form, and spatial relationships and to interpret the built environment around them. Students will divide their time between drawing and design projects in the studio as well as work on-site throughout New York City. Field trips to a design firm and architecturally significant sites expose students to the life and work of professional architects.
