Courses

French Furniture 1840-1930

This course looks at the development of French furniture and interiors from revival styles and eclecticism that characterized decorative arts of the mid-nineteenth century through to the early twentieth century, when French design became associated with the functional yet luxurious modernism of Le Corbusier.

Royal Furnishings of Versailles

Representing the apogee of absolute monarchy under Louis XIV in the seventeenth century, Versailles symbolized royal extravagance at the close of the eighteenth century, when the revolution wrested Louis XVI from Versailles and the throne.
